American Deaths Reach 3,000 in Iraq

WASHINGTON — The death toll of American soldiers in Iraq has reached 3,000, The Associated Press reported.
The toll reached 3,000 on Sunday, the same day former Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein was buried in Ouja, just south of Tikrit, Saddam’s hometown. Saddam was executed just before dawn Saturday for crimes against humanity.
In December, 111 American soldiers died in Iraq, making it the deadliest month since the war began.
